What's New?

The National Math Bee is taking a Sabbatical.

The National Math Bee originated as a doctoral study in the spring of 2003 and grew into the nationwide, non-profit organization that was established in June 2006. The non-profit endeavor continued to serve students, parents and teachers until spring of 2010. The undertaking greatly helped thousands of students in at least 37 states during this period from 2003 – 2010. The base technology designed to facilitate the original study was continuously updated and expanded to serve the National Math Bee community into the spring of 2010.

Due to a technological occurrence in May 2010, unrelated to the educational application, the Organization decided to put the operation on sabbatical in order to redesign and rebuild this prestigious academic forum with updated and advanced technology to better serve future online learners. Some of the anticipated upgrades include the following:

  • Upgrade the core educational game with new interactive capabilities and other advanced, research-based functionality.
  • Redesign and rebuild the Website database to provide a large array of individualized academic assessment strategies and tools .
  • Greatly enhance teacher interfaces to facilitate
    • Easier student and team setup and changes
    • No more software installation (fully Web-based play)
    • Printing of advanced assessment analyses and individualized reporting
    • New reporting to send home to parents (or provide online for parents to access)
  • Local business sponsorships with Schools for free awards to students designed to:
    • Incentivize student achievement with community resources
    • Provide opportunities for families to celebrate a child’s academic achievement together

Our current expected timeframe for reinstating the enhanced online tournament is Fall 2012. During our development cycle we will have periods where we need input from volunteer students, teachers and parents about the new features being designed to fill your needs. These volunteers will have access to the all new BatterUp and National Math Bee activities free of charge during the testing cycle! Opportunities to be in the testing group will be limited. So if you are interested in the chance to participate, please leave your name and contact information at the following link at your earliest convenience:
